As the weather begins to cool down and the days get shorter, we all tend to do our own sort of hibernation, often curling up at home with a hot cocoa and a TV show, but there is actually a lot to do around Hot Springs during these months, and a lot of it happens right here at the Mueller Civic Center!
We’re proud to be the host of many fine arts events in the coming months. Both the high school drama department and the Southern Hills Community Theatre have been busy preparing for their performances. The high school play took place last week, and the SHCT production of “It’s A Wonderful Life” will be performed December 11-13, at 7 p.m. each night.
Tonight, the Hot Springs Area Concert Association brings the area yet another top-notch concert with Two on Tap performing at 7:30 p.m.
At the same time and same place on next Tuesday, Dec. 2, the Hot Springs School Vocal Christmas Concert will take place in our theater and on Dec. 19, Pat Martin’s music students will be holding a recital in the evening in the theater as well.
Many hours of preparation have been put in by those performing at all events to entertain you and we hope you come out in full support.
Civic events are another top priority for us at the Mueller Center, and aside from a great turnout on Election Day, remember that City Council meets here the first and third Monday of the month in our annex. If you’re in search of employment, Job Service is also here the second and fourth Wednesday, be sure to stop in then for assistance. General applications are always available from the Chamber of Commerce desk.
Our other holiday events included last weekend’s annual Holiday Shopping Extravaganza, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, while on the horizon is the Christmas in the Hills Marketplace on Saturday, Dec. 6. These events are always festive and a wonderful place to pick up gifts or get gift ideas from local vendors.
Finally, supporting our youth is one of the most important things we as a city can do and on top of the Friends of the Library Halloween Carnival, AgXpo and the Boys & Girls Club of Hot Springs’ Wine and Wreaths event hosted here in the last couple months, we also have Shapeera from Barefoot Dance who comes down Rapid City every Friday to give kids dance lessons. We also provide a place for our school’s gymnasts to practice in our gym as they start preparing for their competitions this season.
We also have numerous private events & meetings going on in the next couple months as well so if you are interested in renting a room for a Christmas party, business meeting, presentation, concert or other event, you can always call the Mueller Center office for bookings at 745-3446 or if you need information on upcoming events only you can also call the Chamber of Commerce at 745-4140.
Please don’t just hibernate this winter; get out and enjoy everything our community has to offer you!
