City of Hot Springs Employment Opportunities

Full time employees-Beginning wage is typically 80% of the wage scale DOEQ. Wage increases each anniversary, to 86%, 91%, 95%, 98% and 100% at the end of each of the first five years respectively. At the end of the 5th year, or upon reaching top of scale (TOS), the wage will increase 0.5% for each additional year of service (longevity).

Part time and seasonal positions receive an increase of .25¢ per hour each year for up to a maximum of four years.

Full-Time Positions

Water/Wastewater Maintenance Worker
Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment and tools in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City of Hot Springs water supply, distribution, or wastewater treatment facilities and systems. May also be assigned to provide general public works maintenance support work in other public works areas.

Animal Controller Officer
The Animal Control Officer’s duties will consist of enforcing all City Ordinances pertaining to animals as defined in Title IX General Regulations Chapter 90 (Animals and Fowl), within the city limits of Hot Springs.

City Hall Administrative Assistant
Under general supervision, independently performs a full range secretarial, advanced clerical, and routine administrative and programmatic work of a general or specialized nature in support of assigned programs, division, or department with only occasional instruction or assistance; exercising judgment and initiative, relieves assigned staff of clearly defined and delegated administrative or technical detail; may serve as secretary to City Hall department heads; and acts as office receptionist.

Police Officer*
Protects life by: Responding to calls for service and emergency assistance; rendering aid to the physically injured, handicapped and others requiring assistance, including but not limited to victims of accidents, criminal incidents, natural disasters or other incidents; investigating safety hazards and taking action to correct potential problem areas, including road hazards, defects and environmental hazards.

*The City of Hot Springs is currently accepting Police Officer applications for future openings with the department. Desired minimum qualifications include: High School diploma or GED equivalent, must be a minimum of 21 years of age, must have a valid driver’s license, Law Enforcement Standards and Training Commission certificate or able to achieve one within a year of hire date. Formal application required, resume with experience, education, qualifications recommended, potential polygraph, oral interview, and reference check may be performed as well. Immediate Supervisor: Chief of Police or Police Captain. Starting wage is $17.60/hr. - $22.00/hr, depending on experience and certifications. Will be required to work weekends, nights, and holidays. Seasonal Part-Time Positions

City Maintenance Operator I
The Maintenance/Operator I position is responsible for providing maintenance and general labor services pertaining to the City’s streets, parks and cemetery. This position is supervised by the City Maintenance Superintendent and is a seasonal and/or part-time position.

Evans Plunge Lifeguards
Lifeguards are responsible for the health and safety of all persons utilizing the swimming pool and swimming pool facilities. The lifeguard’s position ensures the full safety of all Plunge visitors and of the equipment of Evan’s Plunge.
