Since 1890, the Black Hills’ oldest family attraction has been welcoming visitors to enjoy soothing natural warm water springs and exciting family fun. Once sought as a late 19th century “cure what ails you” remedy, the naturally warm (87 degrees F) mineral water is inviting to all for a time of rejuvenation and fun. Being one of the most popular attractions to the area, locals as well as visitors are welcome to experience the waters of Evans Plunge.
Native Americans, specifically the Sioux and Cheyenne, claimed possession to the warm springs. Eventually, the holistic healing remedies of the springs were discovered by the white settlers. In 1890, Fred Evans established Evans Plunge and made the natural springs available to the public. During these times, the waters had been used to treat chronic diseases, arthritis, rheumatism, gout, and much more. Today, many attractions are available for the whole family.
